Evil Eyes + The All-Seeing Eye
I'm not a superstitious person, but I absolutely love the aesthetic behind Evil Eye talismans. The amulets are believed to protect against the "evil eye" curse, which can be cast by a malevolent glare. The Evil Eye motif varies slightly throughout cultures around the world, but the main iconography remains consistent: the eyeball.
You can find Evil Eyes around the world, but they are especially common in Greece, Turkey, Albania, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Italy, and Afghanistan. Subsequently, all places I have on my list to visit.
Background for the project : I wore a little blue evil eye amulet necklace during my six-week backpacking trip throughout Asia, and came home inspired.
