Southwestern Vibes: Santa Fe Garden & La Vie + La Mort

My latest illustration project is inspired by my trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico. I traveled to the heart of the American Southwest with three of my closest girlfriends. Together, the four of us made the most of our long weekend. The highlights:

• Southwestern food for just about every meal (hello, margaritas & queso fundido)
• Hiking (and getting lost) in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains
• Renting bikes and exploring the town
• Scrambling through the slot canyon and hoodoos of Tent Rocks
• Ogling original paintings at the Georgia O'Keeffe museum

Check out my blog post to see more artwork inspired by my travels.

Georgia O'Keeffe's skull paintings were the original inspiration for this project, both in motif (skulls and flowers) and color palette (browns with pops of blue). I wanted to add my own twist, so the illustrations are flat and intricately detailed monoweight linework.
