The SoNo Collection – CatCoq Mural Walls in New Exhibition Space

It's always pretty cool to see my designs out in the world, but these two installations are especially significant for me. At 35 feet long, these mural walls are the largest my artwork has ever been replicated.

I had the opportunity to contribute to the SoNo Collection art installation. The SoNo Collection features a vast array of local, national, and international artwork. Learn more about the collection here.

For the spirit animals, I opted for a digital illustration. I created most of these critters during a family hiking trip in Montana this summer. When I wasn’t on the trails, I was behind my laptop illustrating these big guys. I couldn’t help but include my favorite animal. (Hint: it’s the only one that has little love hearts woven into the totem.) 💕

Plus, a bison for Kansas, a monkey for the one that stole my drivers license in Bali (that my brother eventually retrieved for me), and a unicorn for my volcano retreat friends.

I drew the waves by hand, scanned them into my computer, and vectorized the illustration so it could scale infinitely without compromising resolution. (Fun fact: it took me longer to refine digitally than it did to draw in the first place.)
