Class Projects:
By the end of the class, you’ll have a stack of fruity floral paintings that you created yourself!
Painting #1: Tropical Watermelon + Hibiscus
For our first painting, you’ll learn a step-by-step approach: we’ll start with the thumbnail sketch, with our photo reference to guide us. Each section of the composition will get broken down into simple shapes. Then, we’ll fill in each segment. This is a great opportunity to loosen up, explore paint blending, and fine-tune your brush control techniques.
Painting #2: Citrus Blooms
Not only are citrus motifs massively on-trend, but they’re pretty fun to paint as well! This lesson focuses on brush control and infusing texture– while the rinds of the oranges are still wet, we’ll dip in darker colors to achieve a bumpy texture. Since watercolor is a transparent medium, this creates some pretty cool effects!
Painting #3: Cherry Blossoms
Now, we’re getting into more complexities. In this lesson, you’ll learn how to perfect your brush control techniques with tiny details and embellishments. We’ll also explore hot to add highlights to the glossy cherries.
Painting #4: Kiwis & Ferns
Our final painting incorporates all the techniques you learned during the class: thumbnail sketching, color blending on page, brush control, the wet-on-dry technique, and painting with whitespace in mind. The final result with be a kiwi and fern composition bursting with vibrant colors!

“I cannot even express how match I am enjoying watching her! The clear instructions, engaging process and of course the actual paintings, which are so beautiful have made me love watercolors even more. I believe a beginner can easily understand and enjoy the process and create some beautiful pieces without getting overwhelmed. A more advanced learner can also get very inspired by her unsique style and workflow.”

“I love your teaching style as well as your painting style. I have taken LOTS of online courses but yours beats them all. You clearly explain each step down to the tiniest details. You offer great demos that are easy to follow. I love your suggestions for other classes. It is evident that you want others to succeed. Thank you!”
- Nancy M.

- Julia C.
“I am a beginner in water painting and I love it. Everything Cat talked about, especially in the last video was everything I have envisioned for my water painting since my intention is to make a career out of it. I believe I can do it and I intend to cover every other class by her as she has so much to offer. Thank you, Cat.”
- Doreen M.
“Great class. I think this style of painting was meant for me, lol. So comforting to use water and paint and let the paper do its job with flowing and blending. It was magic and I am going to keep using this style. I am so grateful.”
- Cassy B.
“This was fantastic! I have zero experience with watercolours aside from what little I was told in school way back... And my faith in my artistic abilities aren't high. Yet, the simple and precise step-by-step explanations made it easy to follow and get a result remarkably similar to that in the video. Strongly recommended! Loved it!”

Meet Your Teacher!
When I was sixteen, I received my first palette of Winsor & Newton watercolors. I was hooked. In the twenty years since, watercolors have remained my favorite artistic medium.
I want to show you how to channel your creativity through this delicious medium. Personally, I find painting with watercolors to be a relaxing ritual. So gather your supplies, put on a good playlist, and let’s paint some gorgeous, modern botanicals together!
