When the organizers of KC Design Week reached out to see if I was interested in hosting a watercolor workshop during the event-packed week, my response was, “I don’t think designers and architects are really interested in watercolor.” When the event sold out in 37 minutes, I realized I was entirely wrong.

It was due time to get back into some digital illustrations, so, in the spirit of spring, I decided to make a series of animals in love. The project was inspired by my brother and sister-in-law's bunnies, Tupelo & Chewy. The bunnies act more like an old married couple than honeymooners, but they're still clearly infatuated with one another. In my illustration, they're encircled with blooming flowers, trickling vines and butterflies.

I partnered up with them to celebrate Earth Day– their April box includes my "Treat Yo Self" reusable tote bag, printed locally in KC by screenprinting superstars Seen Merch. Their monthly packages are chock-full of artisanal goodies and surprises. In addition to my "Treat Yo Self" tote bag, this month's box included die cut seed boxes (chives, mint and tomatoes) + starter pots, a journal made from a repurposed library book, and Earth Day stationery. Definitely a good haul!
